best mud tires
I'm lookin at getting some mud tires for my 2000 chevy K2500 and was wondering what is a good brand to get. I found 2 different ones tht i like--Hercules Trail Digger M/T and -- Nitto Mud Grappler, wanna get them in 285/75/16's. Advice would be good, thanks
I used to run the TSL IROKs but they're not good for alot of road usage. The ss m16s are a all terain and great for on and offroad use. You dont get alot of milage out of aggresive mud tires. I run mickey baja claws on my daily driver. They dont wear fast and I go everywhere my buddys who run swampers go. I had a S-10 with the m16s on it and they work great also. The nittos seem to get caked up easy and the mud just sits in the treads and you get no grip.

TMan,
I DO understand cost !
But, maybe with a little patients and doing Internet, Phone and going around to a few Junk Yards, you can pick up a set, even if they look bad. A good Sand Blast/Wire Brushing and a couple cans of Krylon, would get it done !
You decided on which brand you'll buy yet ?

I'm leanin towards the Nitto's but still open to wht ppl say about these 2 or others.
There are two schools of thought when doing Mud/Snow, either...
A more narrow Tire, which sorta reaches down into it and grabs, then...
A wider Tread, which puts you on top of it, sorta floating along.
I have a tendency to go with the second approach, but that's just me.
Ran across another very tried and true Tread Pattern at...
Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels
Thompson's are pricey, but, very good quality.
