i have an 86 chevy pickup, if the ebrake wasnt accidentally on while i was bleeding the brakes, would that cause a bad bleed??

 

I don't see where it would make a difference. When the e brake is on the wheel cylinder would just be pushed out further and without spring pressure to push it back in.
Either position the cylinder is in it should still push the air to the top and out the bleeder.
If your having trouble bleeding the brakes try this. Use a clear bottle and put about an inch to two inches of fluid in it. Using a vacuum hose long enough to reach the floor from the bleeder put the hose over the bleeder (make sure you have a way to open and close the bleeder) and into the fluid in the bottle. Keep your master cylinder from going dry and pump your brakes until your satisfied there is no more air in the system.
