Default Check Engine Light Question

My check engine light came on (2010 Chevy Suburban) and I took it to the local repair shop where I have all my routine maintenance done on the vehicle and they told me if was a P0449 Error which is the Evap Vent Valve. The repair at the shop is gonna run me $260 but after looking online, I can get the part for around $60 and probably do it myself - does not look that complicated to do from what I have seen online. My question is this: After I replace the part, will the check engine light go away or is this something that has to be reset by someone with an OBD machine - like the local repair shop. Thanks!

Disconnect the battery, and that will reset the computer, and the CES light should remain off unless there is another issue with the engine.
