Chevy P30 EGR (Code 32) only while driving
I have a 1993 Pace Arrow Fleetwood Coronado RV on the Chevy P-30 Chassis with a 454 (TBI). After driving for about a half hour, the check engine light comes on and stays on until the RV is off and has sat for a while. It doesn't come back on until you've driven for a half hour or so again. I checked the code and it's 32, EGR. The engine doesn't seem to idle rough or have any of the other symptons of EGR failure that I've read about.
When I got the RV a few months ago, it had a minor exhaust leak at the passenger side manifold, which I assumed was the cause of the check engine light prior to checking the code. Long story short, the leak got worse on a trip climbing mountains in New Hampshire, so I changed the manifold (for $60 from RockAuto, why not replace it instead of risk the old one being warped). This job was surpringly easy from the side after removing the wheel and access panel BTW, but I digress. I changed the spark plug wires at the same time since the exhaust leak had fried one. I assumed (hoped) the check engine light issue would go away after this, but no such luck.
I'm a little stumped because the engine seems to run fine both at idle and speed, and has plenty of power (and is blissfully quiet) I'll probably try to find a procedure somewhere to troubleshoot the EGR system and start there, but I figured I'd post this in case someone had run across this issue previously and could save me some time.
