Default Engine rebuild first timer

Hey guys! Ok so I'm a single mother . I lost my car and went months with no ride. I got an offer for this truck (1995 Chevy c1500 4x2 ext) , I was told that it needed a motor put in . But the old one had already been pulled and both motors were in the truck bed. This truck has been sitting up for almost a year and a half. The old motor has a crack down both sides. I've done little mechanic work. I can change oil, and brakes, and drop a transmission pan like a pro. I've also replaced valve covers, but with the amount of rust that has set up inside this motor it's literally looking like it's gonna need to be taken down piece by piece and put back together. Is that even possible ? So far I have taken off the heads and when I got to the pistons the amount of rust was unbelievable. I'm not to far into it. And trying to just buy a new motor though it's more convenient is something that I absolutely cannot afford. Is there anyone that could give me advice on where to go from here or point me in the right direction? Is this motor savable? Or am I just wasting my time? Any little bit helps. Thank you all so much in advance.

try to hone it and see if it cleans up. If not it would need to be bored by a machine shop.
