fan turns on when I connect the battery
After changing my starter, I connected the positive cable to the battery but when I go to connect the negative, the fan kicks on. The key isn't in the ignition when this happens. Wondering why this is happening.

Was it doing this before you changed the starter? Could also be the temp sensor. Even with the key out the fan runs if it senses that the engine is too hot.

No it didn't happen before. It did it and stopped when I first changed the starter. That was about a month ago. Last week My truck was sounding like it wanted to turn over repeatedly while it was running. When I would turn the key to off, my truck would stay on and had to disconnect the battery to shut it off. Was told to check the starter so I took it off and put it back on. Also changed the ignition switch. But now the fan turns on and it sounds like it's trying to turn over when I connect the battery. And it stays on.

So it turns out that I had some wires touching when I put my starter back in. That's why it kept kicking the fan on. Hopefully replacing the ignition switch fixed the other problem unless it was all related. Thanx for all your input oldchevy, I really appreciate it.
