Default fuel pressure?

I've got a '99 silverado 1500 4x4 with a 4.8L and i recently changed the fuel pump and filter. just an ac delco stock model pump. ever since, my pickup will ocationally have a hard time starting, i've got to crank on the starter and pump the accelorator ( compressing to 1/2 way doesn't seem to work), but once started, it runs fine. does any body have ideas on how to get rid of the in tank pump? should i just get an asist in-line pump?

Pumping the accelerator on a fuel injected truck does nothing. Putting on a in line pump is not a good fix. You either have a bad pump (one way valve in the pump) or a bad pressure regulator. Your pump may still be under warranty.
