Help:Engine or trans Ping/ticking
Hi guys
ive always owned standard Camaros my whole life but i needed to buy a van. so i bought a 2006 chevy express cargo van with 70K thats an automatic.
I test drove the van for about 30 - 45 mins an everything was perfect.
Obviously the day i buy it an pull it into my drive way i heard a fairly loud pinging noise coming from under the van

. i thought it was a heat shield rattleing or something along those lines.
when im at a complete stop or at about 10 mph in drive it sounds like a ticking noise but when i put it into park or neutral its more of a louder pinging noise but does not make a sound when driving over 10 mph. it only happens when the van is warmed up. im not used to automatics an really know nothing about them and im really hoping its not a transmission issue or engine. the van still shifts smooth runs great just a weird noise i can't pin point.
any idea what the noise can be? i doubt its a manifold or exhaust leak cause of how the sound changes when put from drive to park or neutral.

quite possibly a sticky lifter. there are a few products you can add to oil just before you change it to help free up sticky lifters. also, check the oil level too. sometimes being low on oil is all it takes.
just checked the oil an its fine also checked the trans fluid an its nice an light pink doesnt look burn or anything like that.
you think it could be a stick lifter even tho it only happens when its warmed up?
