High squeal and metal in oil

High squeal and metal in oil
Could a screaming loud squealing sound that happens around 1100 Rpm be caused by a bad distributor? Also could a bad distributor leave metal shavings in the oil? Brand new GM 350 crate engine and can't diagnose problem.
