Question horse power question

i have a 93 GMC K1500 With a 350 tha was rated at 210 hp. I wanted to get aroud above 220hp. i swaped out the 2bbl tbi manifold for a 4bbl intake. i put a 600cfm edelbrock carb on top. and switched out the stock exhaust manifold for hedders. i am running from the hedders 3 in pipes back to hte muffler. how much hp will i get out of it. (the tbi unit was shot) thats why the modifications were made.

the only thing that will truly tell is a dyno run. And 210hp is off the flywheel not the rear tires. On my 89 350, at rebuild, I put a mild cam, edelbrock heads and intake, bored .60 over, I had just under 300hp at the wheels.

That would have been at the flywheel. I would dare say that with the changes you made, you should have easily gained the 10 hp you were looking for.

by taking off the tbi unit, hp was lost. tbi is not the most efficient induction system, but does yield a slight better result than carb. although, you may have broke even, maybe even gained the 10 extra you were after. from the point you're at now, i would go with a slightly larger carb, 650 at least, then turn to ignition. get some QUALITY

I agree about the carb, I think the stock units are rated at about 570 cfm, so a 650 would allow better flow. A cam will help alot but the stock heads while being very efficient and develop good torque, do have a very limited flow.

agreed. the heads play a huge role in it. depends on where he wants to go with motor, budget.
