No, you dont have to change the shift points or the rev limiter to feel a difference in the programming. The changes to the shift points are at wide open throttle so they would only take effect if running it hard. If you change the shift points make sure that you raise the rpm higher than the shift points. If you are looking for some good power and economy than I would use the tuning and shift firmness only, unless you have changed your tire height and then of course, enter the tire height in to correct the speedometer and odometer.
