im having issues when starting my truck
Hi fellow Chevy owners,
I have a 2002 s10 extreme LS with a v6 4.3 ltr Vortec with automatic transmission.
My problem started about 6 months ago and it keeps getting worse. I go to start it and all that happens is a electrical noise and all the lights on the dash light up. I lock the door and close it - wait till the light goes out - unlock it with my keypad - open the door - step on the break and then it finally starts.
I'm not sure which one of these things makes it start or if it has to do with any of that at all.
Sometimes it starts right up with no trouble.
Does anybody have any idea what can be causing this?

Take the battery cable bolts out and take a look. The bulletin below explains why I recommend that.

This bulletin is being revised to update the models and provide a new labor operation number for this repair. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Numbers 02-06-04-015 and 03-06-03-006A (Section 06 - Engine/Propulsion System).
Condition
Some customers may comment on an intermittent no crank, no start condition.
Cause
This condition may be due to poor battery cable connections. Cross-threaded/stripped battery cable bolts inside the battery side post terminals may cause poor battery cable connections.
Correction
To avoid replacing the battery , do the following steps:
^ Clean the threads in the battery side post terminals using a 3/8" (# 16) NC bottom tap.
^ Replace the battery cable bolt.
The battery cable bolt is serviced separately from the cable and is available from your Parts Department. Be sure to use the correct bolt.

thanks for the response guys.
I will try cleaning the battery connections.
as far as the gas i put in, sometimes i put low grade depending on how much money i have but, it happens no matter what gas i put in.
If the battery thing doesn't work ill move on to the alarm.
thanks again. will post back the results.

this may sound overly simple, but what fuel did you put in it. i had a '96 silverado that was complete crap with anything below mid grade. sucked. trust me
