thanks john for this very detailed desciption. Here in Germany it is very difficult to find someone who know how to work on chevy trucks.
Today I called a dealer who will order the knock sensor, so in the next days I try to replace it. Or do you mean it is a chance to clean the sensor,the area around them and the harness connector?
Otherwise this could be the cause of the high fuel consumption, I need 24 litres for 100 km this is 10mpg.Or is it ok for the truck?

no i would replace it. u'll also need to get intake gaskets cuz u have to pull that off to get to the knock sensor. i'm not quite sure about the mpg but most that come into the dealership get around 18mpg which is pretty good.
