Default oil pressure is going whacky

hi, i have a 1990 z24 cavalier, 3.1 litre, 5 speed manual.the problem is with the oil pressure and/or the gauge for it. it goes up and down sometimes while shifting sometimes. The check engine light came on once for a bit but hasnt been on since. The car is still running fine.It has 260,000 Km on it and has only had give or take 1000 kms put on it since the last oil/oil filter change.any ideas would be a great help since i dont know much about chevs.

Are you meaning the oil pressure goes up and down ???

I'm not sure how you are reading the oil temperature.

Now that you edited your original post ....

First off ... what was the check engine problem code ??

Second ... check the oil level

Third ... you might have a wonky oil pressure sending unit.
