Default P0238 2017 Malibu

Rats chewed up some wires on the back of the engine. Luckily they were easy to get to. Some wires I had to splice in a section because the F%#@ing rat completely chewed and disposed of or ate sections of the wire. I looked as best I could with a mirror and flashlight to see if he’d chewed on anything else. Now I’m getting a code P0238. That’s the only code I’m getting. Display says reduced engine power but it seems to run ok just a little sluggish on acceleration. Anyone have any ideas?

Here are the issues involved with P0238:

What are the common causes of code P0238 ?

Some common causes of P0238 could include the following-
  • Damaged, burnt, shorted, disconnected, or corroded wiring and/or connectors
  • Defective MAP or boost control sensor
  • Damaged, split, dislodged, hardened, or perished vacuum lines if the boost control system is vacuum operated
  • Defective vacuum actuator or check valve(s) if the boost control system is vacuum operated
  • Mechanical failure of the waste gate mechanism
  • Failed or failing PCM. Note that this is a rare event, and the fault must be sought elsewhere before any controller is replaced.
  • In some cases, clogged or even partially clogged catalytic converters and/or mufflers can prevent or inhibit the free flow of exhaust gas, which can cause over boost conditions to develop at high engine speeds.

I’m betting it’s a wiring issue. I just don’t know where. Never had this problem until now.

Those rodents can really damage things. I don't know why or if they can eat plastic wires or rubber hoses, but I guess they do.
