Steering loosing center
Happy New Year.
Here’s my dilemma; I have a 2002 Trailblazer which has been having a multitude of different issues all occurring around the same time. For example: transmission return line rusted through and ruptured, power steering line on the driver’s side wheel well corroded and ruptured to which the line retaining bolt at the rack was corroded so bad I had to cut the lines and drop the rack so had to replaced both lines from the rack and replaced worn steering tie rod. Took it to a repair shop for an alignment; they couldn’t do the alignment because the lower ball joint were too worn. Enough was enough, I replaced upper/lower ball joint, both stabilizer links, both tie rods and struts/springs. The only thing I couldn’t replace was the lower control arm frame mount bushings, the front bushings were a little a loose, however, no one carried them for same day delivery.
With all this work done I returned the repair shop for an alignment; which turned out fine except for one peculiar quirk. When braking heavy the vehicle will stay straight but the steering wheel will change from neutral to ~10 o’clock position, how weird that?. Rechecked all components for looseness, did the stop to stop bleed of the rack; nothing helped.
Any ideas?
