Default tire pressure sensor

Got a 2007 Chevy Tahoe I want to change the wheels, can you take the tire pressure sensor off the stock wheels and put them on aftermarket wheels? Is it like changing a valve stem? Thank for the help

Default RE: tire pressure sensor

as long as the angle of the sensor remains the same....example....if the valve stem points "up" parallel with the wheel face,it wont "wake up",and if you got a flat....you'll see a broken sensor

Default RE: tire pressure sensor

The sensor/transmitter for TPMS are located on the inside of the rim.

There are two types :
1 - the antenna is located in the valve stem
2 - the antenna is in the sensor itself.

A knowledgeable tire shop should be able to move them to other rims.

They have to be the original sensors that came with the vehicle. They are programmed to the TPMS module and are unique to that specific vehicle.
