Default Upgrading Wheels.....Tire Pressure Sensor Question

I'm about to upgrade wheels to the OEM Polished 20's from the OEM 17's and was wondering if I will have to bring it to the Dealer for some computer work to switch over the tire pressure sensors from the 17's to the 20's????? My guess is that I WILL have to take it in. Does anyone know how much the'll charge me for this?

P.S. Biglg.....17's might be on the market pretty soon.

I just put 22's on mine this weekend and the place I took it to switched out the sensors for me. ALl you have to do after that is the "Relearn Tire Postition" exercise.

If the OD of the 20" wheel/tire combo is different by very much, you'll want them to reprogram that so your speedo will be correct. There may not be that much difference though.

Good point about the speedo. I didn't really think about that. I guess bringing it in for the change should cost me about $80.00 to 100.00? Does anyone know?

I was charged $140 for my 2007 Burb. 17" to 22" wheels. They say they have to upload three different codes.
1st- tire size
2nd- wheel size
3rd- psi for dic screen

Question for you.....
Im not physasist(sp) but wouldnt it all have to do with the ratio from one tire to the next. For exapmple: when I bought my 22's I put on 45 series tires. I compared the overall diameter from the stock ones to teh new ones and it was a difference of 3/8". So technically the wheel is rotationg the same right? Would I havet o recaliberate my speedo?

I got mine programmed for 20's, from 17's for $80. I now have 24's and GM doesnt have a program for anything larger than 22's. GM doesnt recommend going larger than 22's.

Rockstar,

You may be able to keep the overall diameter similar, or close. however when the dealer does the upgrade it changes more than the speedo/odo, it also changes the tranny, ABS, etc.
