Unwanted ground?
Greetings: Re: 1998 Chevy Lumina.
I replaced my battery in Feb of 2014. Since that time, I have had to recharge the battery on a few occasions. Finally, again, the car wouldn't start so I took the battery to the store where I bought it and it proved to have a dead cell. They replaced it and as I was hooking it up in the car, I noticed that after I connected the plus cable I proceeded to connect the ground and in so doing, I heard the door locks activating. I understand that normally, there might be a slight spark in connecting the ground because of the clock or minimal use accessories but to hear the door locks activating, I think that might be unusual. Too, after completing the hookup of the battery and tightening the cables, the door locks don't work. Do I have an unwanted ground that might be causing the battery to drain while idle.
