Default vortec engine,what spec?

hi,ive got hold of an engine for a project, its a vortec with block number 10243880. iron block and heads fitted currently with the remains of an efi system. its a goodwrench engine i think ,due to the goodwrench sticker on the rocker cover.it came out of an ambulance. does anyone have any ideas what sort of power it could be? i suppose i really need to find out what compression it is. also im converting to carb,i know i need a vortec intake manifold, but can i use the distributor off my pre vortec engine? thanks
