Default Window Motor Keeps Running

The driver side power window on my 2000 Astro opens half way. The motor keeps running (until I hit the up button), but the window refuses to open the rest of the way.

The window will close, but after closing, the motor continues to run until I remove my finger from the button.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

The auto down module will keep the motor running until the window bottoms out. In the up direction, there's no auto feature and thus the motor will run only as long as the switch is held. Both are working as designed. The problem has to be in the window regulator assembly (motor and scissoring mechanism that lowers/raises the window glass) but you'll have to take the trim panel off and look.

Thank you very much! I've taken the panel off. Replacing the regulator looks like a fairly challenging job. I think I'll need to wait until I have a full day to work on it. Once again, thanks!

You're quite welcome. The motor and window regulator each can be replaced individually and as an assembly. There usually are rivets to be drilled out as well. You'll want to get all the parts in hand before tackling the job. Good luck.
