Default Wont run right. 350

Ok I have a 89 350 w/new older styleheads and edelbrock goodies. I just put a new carb, intake, hei dist, plugs, and wires on the engine. Now it will idle fine, but bogs like he** when you floor it either from stop or at speed [X(]. It has an electric choke, but it is working perfectly. I am trying to get this thing running like a champ before I go to basic so my family can use it if needed, granted my father doesnt wanna drive a v8ed LUV truck. Not to mention the trans is acting weird, 700r4 cruises in 3rd and when you floor it, shifts to 4th (aint that backwards?) Any suggestions on either?

Sounds like the carb is starving for fuel. Is it an edelbrock carb? Most of the time they come preset but may need adjustment depending on the engine. How about the fuel filter?

New fuel filter, new fuel pump. Factory jets in the carb. Any suggestions on how to get this thing to stop bogging down? I want my truck to have pep in its step again......

Try adjusting the timing and make sure your vacuum advance is hooked up to the right port on the carb.
