96 4.3l wont run right
I'm new to this sight so thanks in advance for any help.
Ok, I recently changed my intake manifold gasket to fix a leak. Everything went great with the tear down and replacement. Everything is tight and put back in place. Ok so when we first got it put back together it wouldn't start. Figured it was the timing so we got it to TDC and got it to fire up. But the problem is that it rides real rough and acts as though it doesn't have any power. We have adjusted the timing by one tooth at a time pretty much all the way around and it will just not run like it did before i changed the gasket. So my question is does it sound like i've done something wrong or that i'm missing a step somewhere?

First off what year is the truck and second make sure all your sensors and plugs are plugged back in. Not sure if you checked the timing with a timing light that is the best way to make sure you are on so first thing is first get the timing set correct and once that’s done we can figure out the rest of the errors.
its a 96 with the 4.3l and yes everything is plugged back in. It looks exactly the same as it did before i took it apart. I was also under the impression that you couldn't use a timing light b/c the timing chain isn't visible. If u can then I will go see about renting one and trying that
