On my 02 Impala, when the AC is set to blow from the dash vents only, it actually blows from the dash AND the floor vents. It won't blow from just the dash vents. The floor only setting works correctly.

Any ideas on a cause or a fix would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Can you be a litlle more specific? Are you implying that this requires a major repair?

 

sometimes when you disconnect the battery- thats when you get these problems come up.
most of the time it blows from the wrong vents...
try turning the **** to the left most position. turn ac off.
disconnect battery for a while. (id try 30-60 min) and then reconnect.
this may force the system to relearn the position of doors that control the air flow.
many times this helps clear up the hiccup.

 

i meant buy a new hvac or one from a junk yard and see if it does that same thing. Easy repair

 

Thanks for the suggestions. If the battery thing doesn't work I might try replacing the control unit. Would vacuum hoses have anything to do with this?
