08 Impala LT 3.9L accelerator pedal position sensor replacement
Does anyone have any helpful information, a "how to" guide or photos on how to replace the accelerator pedal position sensor? Also, can this be done at home or does the sensor need to be "taught" by a dealer or computer?
Any and all information is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance!
Here is the problem I am having:
As I try to take off from a stop light I can push the pedal and the car does not react...does not race the engine, does not move at all then all of a sudden my car takes off. After doing other research on the internet I believe this sensor is the problem and needs to be replaced.

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately problems like yours take more than throwing parts at the problem. Consider taking it in for service. If you are still covered by the 5yr/100k powertrain warranty, even better.

If you would like some more in depth information on your vehicle you may want to look into getting a service manual for your vehicle at www.helminc.com. I am unable to comment on whether or not your diagnosis of your vehicle would be correct. I hope these suggestions offered to you help you.

How to change impala accelerator app sensor
This is one of the simplest jobs that you will ever find. NAPA, Auto zone has them for about $60. You will need a 10 mm socket, rachet & extension along with a small flat blade screwdriver. First remove the 2 bolts that holds the accelerator pedal down, next use the small screwdriver to push down on the clip on the connector & unplug. Do everything in the reverse order to install. There is no learning curve for the computer it just works. I did my 2009 impala in less than 10 minutes after find tools. This cleared the p2138 & p2127 codes from coming on.
