Default 1996 Impala Oil Pan

My oil pump pick-up fell into the bottom of the oil pan. Is there any way to remove the oil pan with out lifting the engine if I bring # 6 cylinder to TDC to bring the crankshaft weights to the top?

You should be able to remove the pan without removing the engine. The only GM that I can think of that you must remove the engine to do the pan is old 4.3 blazer. You may need to lower your sub frame some. How do you know the pick up came off if the pan is still on?

Anytime I jumped on the brakes the oil pressure would go to zero. I drained the oil and looked up the drain hole with a flashlight and could see the pick-up screen laying in the bottom of the pan.

Finished, not too bad. I had to lift the engine about two inches to get the oil pan out. Whole job took seven hours.
