Question 2000 impala no start

I am working on a 2000 Chevy Impala. at first there was a ignition switch problem where the gauges would flicker when i jiggled the ignition”in the off position”. i replaced the switch and the flickering problem ended, now when the key is turned the gauges click twice and the security light comes on and cycles with the low fuel warning back and forth. there is no crank over nor do i hear the fuel pump pressure up.

Welcome to the forum. Did you replace the ignition switch, lock cylinder, or both? New GM parts?

The SECURITY light stays on with key on? I guess it wouldn't be the first time some aftermarket switch came defective out of the box. Either that or the Passlock electrical connector/harness is screwed up.

Well, is the SECURITY light lit or flashing with key on? And, what 's "this" you want to test?

Take out your multimeter, disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition switch (take the whole assembly out or not, your choice), and then check for continuity between one connector-terminal (e.g., C1-A for connector C1, terminal A) to the connector-terminal in the next leg with key in each position as follows:

LOCK: None
ACC: C1-A to C2-C, C2-A to C1-E
RUN: C1-A to C2-C, C1-A to C2-B, C2-A to C1-C, C2-A to C1-E
START: C1-A to C2-B, C2-A to C1-B, C2-A to C1-E

Also, check all fuses labeled PCM or BCM in all the fuse blocks. As for OBD scanner issue, check the voltage at the CLSTR/BCM fuse in the left I/P fuse block.

OK NOW I'M TOTALLY LOST below are the results from the ignition switches with the checks from EINst and they make no since to me. All the fuses check out ok. and the voltage at the clstr/bcm fuse read 11.9

old switch 1a to 2c 2a to 1e 1a to 2b 2a to 1c 2a to 1b
lock - - - - -
acc 0.7 0.7 - - -
run 0.6 0.7 0.6 0.7 -
start - 0.7 0.6 - 0.7
new switch
lock - - 0.8
acc 0.8 - 0.8 - -
run 0.8 - 0.8 - -
start - - 0.8 - -
