Default 2001 Impala - Windshield wiper problem

I have a 2001 Impala. Today on the way to work my windshield wipers started going out of sync. The Driver side and passenger side wipers started banging against each other. The driver side wiper ended up going off the front window. Passenger side wiper was still going. I'm going to need to replace the wipers because they are damaged. Any ideas what I should do to fix this? What steps should I take? I'm assuming either the bolts need tightened or the wiper motor is going bad. Thanks!
