Default windshield wiper problem.

I know this isnt the right area but I know there are lots of really smart people on here and they dont look at other areas.

My problem: I bought a 98 lumina a while back and today only the driver wiper worked and then 5 min later, neither one works.

Could the arm broken a tooth off the moter or skipped something? I can hear the moter, the arms try to move, but dont.

Any help or suggestions would be awesome.

I would check the plastic bushings that connect the wiper arms together to the transmission (wiper assembly) all you have to do is open the hood remove the wipers and then the cowl and you should be able to get in there to check things out

Have the wipers recently been operated when snow or ice has blocked them from moving?

Have you tried to assist the wipers by hand when they are switched ON? Will they then wipe?

Is the motor just humming or is it actually rotating?
