Default 2003 Impala ls 3.8 litre tranny change

Is this a job a shadetree mechanic can tackle?? Are there special tools required, ect...
any help with info would be great. Thanks

First off welcome to the forum!!! Stop by the new member welcome area and introduce yourself!

Now for your question, it depends on your mechanical knowledge! If you have some mechanical knowledge and a Haynes/Chilton manual you can do it. These manuals tell you step by step how to do it and what tools are required.

Default Thanks for the input

I have changed FWD trannys in the past, but both were not nearly as daunting as looking under the hood in this car.
I consider myself to be mechanically inclined, and would like to save the $800 my local guy wants to charge for the labor.
