Default Block heater for 2000 S-10 2.2 litre

I just recently moved out to Alberta from Ontario and noticed that I did not have a block heater in my 2.2 litre S-10. I was wondering if it would be a difficult job installing one myself? Is there a plug to be popped out to accommodate the heater and where on the block is it? Thanks in advance.

You have to remove one of the frost plugs on the block.
Sure you can do it yourself but I recommend taking in somewhere because of how messy it gets. You have to drain the cooling system before installing the block heater.
Most places are reasonably priced to do this... it cost me around $70.00 to have mine changed ... i picked up the heater at Can. Tire.

$70 was 4 the labour right?, which sound about right. i just got the block heater in my 'burb replaced at the dealer accross the street from my work (most convenient, since i have no time right now-still can't believe i went 2 a dealer!), & it cost me $200, out the door. the block heater was $45, 1 hr. labour, coolant, taxes, yada, yada, yada, & for once i didn't get dirty or have a mess in the driveway-wow, that's 3 first's for me, i must b gettin' old or something (hahahahahaha)

Just dug out the receipt ... actually it was $85.00 to change it.
change block heater - .5 hr = $35.00
cooling system flush = $50.00

the heater which I supplied = $35.00

Well worth the cost.
