Default 2004 Impala LS ABS - Traction system lights go on

I have a 2004 Impala LS, and I've got this strange problem:
Sometimes (like once a week) when I run into a hard bump, the "service traction system" message comes on, as well as both the traction and ABS lights. The message comes out after a minute, but the traction and ABS lights stay on. I found that if I turn off the engine, take out the key and then restart, the lights most likely won't come on again after the engine starts. Any ideas on what's going on?

Welcome to the forum. TC is not possible without ABS. Chances are, your problem is ABS but it's impossible to tell beyond that, be it a wheel speed sensor or wiring. It's best to take it in for service.

we have a similar problem -
with a random bump, the "Service Vehicle" msg comes on,
along with the headlights turning ON.
