I have a 05 impala 3.4 and the cluster seems to flicker sometimes the light stays on when driving but the message light and the gear and mileage light flicker on and off sometimes it works completely fine and sometimes it doesn’t, I checked the fuses and they seem fine. Is there a loose ground wire somewhere perhaps? Or is my cluster faulty? Help please thanks

 

Likely could be either one. Might be a corrosion issue as well. Tighten down all the grounds and check you fuse box too.

 

I've had a bad dimmer control for the instrument panel cause this as well.

 

there is a thread on this site where someone replaced a mosfet transistor in the cluster to fix the odometer, gear indicator and message bank lighting. It may also be a bad solder connection in the cluster.
