Can anyone tell me if there is a chip in this key or not? I've lost the keys to this vehicle and need to get a new one made. If I take the VIN # into a GM dealership can they make a new one for me from the VIN?

They could-----but they won't
You'll need proof of ownership and maybe $40.00 bucks

 

They made the keys for my brothers 95 Firebird when they were lost for $25 bucks and the registration card, and that had a chip.

 

The dealer cut a door key (no chip) for $5.00, didn't ask for any ID
