2009 Chevy Impala A\C question?

2009 Chevy Impala A\C question?
I own a 09 Impala. When I cut on my A/C and accel it starts to make a light whining noise. When I cut off the A/C it doesn't whine. The A/C still blows cold! Any clue on what it could be? I have been told the A/C compressor belt.
