Default 2011 engine problem

Every once and a while the heat gauge will cut out and the warning light will say engine over heating A/C disabled and the fans will kick in on high.. Well the engine is NOT over heating and if I disconnect the batt and reconnect it everything is fine for a couple days.. Now I have a 2 part question #1 what can be causing this and #2 the chime gos off for 10minutes when it happens and is there any waY I can dissable the chime in the dash? Yes it's a 2011 and it's warranty has run out so there's no way I'm going to the dealer, thanks

Bad temp sensor or short in the wiring are 2 possibilities.

I agree with "oldchevy", it sounds like there may be an electrical issue, just a suggestion, not a diagnosis. I recommend having the vehicle inspected for a more accurate diagnosis.

To start check all ground wires including the batt. Clean the batt terminals. You state that if you reconnect the batt. it is OK for a few days.
