you would lose steering wheel controls if you have them. really wouldn't lose much. the RDS is built into alot of aftermarket radios. but biggest loss is steering wheel controls. if ya don't have them, then no loss.

If you have the on star your sound comes through the stereo, so will will probably loose your door ding sound and light on warning sounds. Also if you have a bose system you need a adapter to keep the exsisting speakers and amp or you may have no sound !. The adapter will also keep the door sounds and light sounds. most of these adapters let you adjust the sound level of those things to, so if your like me and hate that loud dinging sound, just turn it down

These guys are pretty much right. You'd lose OnStar, door chimes, steering wheel controls, etc. BUT there are harnesses available for purchase (crutch field, sonicelectronix, etc) to keep these features. If you're buying an aftermarket stereo, you have the option of getting a harness to keep your OnStar for about $150 or another that will give you your door chimes n all, but you'd lose OnStar n that ones about half the cost. Also separate harnesses are available if you wanna keep your steering wheel controls. But go with Axxess brand n stay away from PAC.... Much less complicated. Good luck!
