Chevy Impala 2010
Hi my name is Renee, my husband had my vehicle inspected to drive with Uber, and the inspection indicated that he need to have the ebrake cable adjusted. We are trying to find out if this is something he can do himself, or will it require going to a mechanic?
Thanks

Hello Renee, welcome to the forum. Everyone has different mechanical abilities. What may be easy and second though to someone, may be difficult and not easily done by others. That being said, probably the best way to go about this is to first find out what is involved with adjusting the ebrake cable then just making the decision if that is too much to handle. Tightening the ebrake is not a difficult job and usually just involves tightening a take-up nut on the cable that draws up the slack on the cable. Best thing to do is look in the service manual if uncertain or look it up online. Another question to ask is why the ebrake needs adjustment in the first place. Are the brakes worn and be needing replacement soon or is this the fact that the cable is just stretched? Just proceed with caution and make sure you have a safe ride when done.
