engine hot ac off
EinST....what in the heck are you talking about? Have you googled "Engine Hot AC Off" and seen the thousands of postings about this issue. Do you think everyone of us have a short in the ECTS circuit? I'm not trying to sound rude but I have this problem with my 2010 Chevrolet Impala and it costs me $80 to have the dealership reset the codes on the dang car. They couldn't find any issues with the car so the fix was to reset the codes. Now...here's the million dollar question...how can the vehicle owner reset the codes without having to pay the dealership $80 a pop?
I have had this problem for over a year and had my car back to the Chevy dealer over 6 times. The first time they said it was the air sensor at a cost of $450. The next time they said it was they did not reset the computer right. The next time they thought it was the battery. The next time they had no idea. So I put a quick disconnect on my battery and every 6 to 9 hundred miles when the engine hot AC off message comes up I just reach under the hood and twist the disconnect and go do something for 5 min. And come back and twist it the other way and I am good for another 600 to 900 miles.
This is what I had to do to keep my sanity.

Guys, The issue is the thermostat is opening too soon. The PCM has a fail-safe timer on engine temperature. If the engine doesn't hit a certain temp in a certain number of minutes, it throws out that message and turns on all the cooling fans under the hood in case the temperature sensor is giving faulty info.
Replace the thermostat and your problem will be solved.

Well I haven't responded to this thread since 2011 but I've read through the numerous postings and feel for everyone that has this issue. Personally, I gave the local dealership several attempts to fix the problem since 2011 but all they kept doing was resetting the computer on the car each time it happened and tried to charge me for it each time I took it to them. I eventually found a small mechanic in town that said they had dealt with this issue several times so they replaced the following items on my 2010 Chevrolet Impala:
1. coolant temp sensor
2. SL-N-connector wiring harness
3. thermostat with o-ring
I had this done back in February (2015) and haven't had any issues since then (knock on wood). It ended up costing me about $350 (parts and labor) but my frustration with this issue is hopefully over. I think the issue is more with the sensor and the wiring harness but that's just my opinion as I am not a mechanic...

I havn't found a fix yet for the "Engine Hot - AC Off" challenge, but here is a great bandaid. Every time this message comes up, I find a safe place to park the Tahoe, then I disconnect the positive post on the battery and wait 20 seconds. The computer reboots and then everything is fine for a while. Sometimes the problem is fixxed for a month or 2 and sometimes only for a few days. Hope this help all you folks a bit
Today my Temp gauge stop working and I got the message that the Engine is Hot AC off. I haven't had this issue at all. Today is a colder day compared to what it has been during the summer. Today i also used my remote start for the the first time in about a month. Any reason As to why this is happening?
