did you blow thru the hose to the cannister? if you can't; then it full of dirt that got past the fresh air filter on the vent solenoid...so you would need both parts . the filter protects the cannister. if you drive in dusty conditions....the filter should be replaced periodically. Some farmers have to replace their truck filters once a year.
