ImpalaWhile undergoing many facelifts in its history, the Impala has proved itself to both civilians and police forces as one of the most capable 4-door cars GM has ever offered. Currently moving towards its 10th generation the Impala is one of the longest lasting and popular models.
It's the hard hose coming out of the intake going to the rear of the intake manifold, right under the ignition control module, which actually prevents it from being removed. It seems to be a very loose fit there. If I can't correct the fit somehow I'll need to order one if it's leaking. I have a 2003 Impala 3.4L Base that has a -15 LTFT at idle which disappears at higher rpm. By the way, the pic is not my actual car. Thank you.
It's an air line to the backside valve cover. I have the same on my 3.1. You can get it off without pulling the module. I used a small prybar under the elbow on top of the valve cover, gently pry it off.
Odd that parts sites either don't have it or say it's not for my car, only up to 2001 and no Impalas are listed. And I can't find the part that is for my car. It certainly looks the same. I wonder if someone would take a look at these two photos and tell me if you think it would fit? As best as I could measure, it's about 17" long. Thanks.
There is another one that won't fit the parts house (autozone) carries. I replaced mine about 3 months ago with the part number I posted. Mine is a 96 model 3.1, but should be the same.
It looks similar but I've found several that are similar but fitment is for other models. If I do purchase one, I'll go with the 12581196 since at least one of the large gm parts suppliers online confirms that it fits the 2003 and has a fairly good image of the part whereas most of them don't even have an image.
