Default Need 2001 Chevy Impala Wiring diagram

Factory harness was cut out and I'm attempting to install aftermarket head unit. I've looked at some online but they don't seem right because they say the 12v constant is Yellow but I don't have a yellow wire in the dash. Also it says orange is the switched but I have two oranges. Just would like someone ms advice that also had to hardwire, or is there an easier way to do what it sounds like I'm trying to do? Thanks all

A meter or test light should tell you which Orange wire is the 'always ON', the other orange wire is for the 'DATA LINK' serial communication.

Just picked up a volt meter! So the always ON is also known as the 12v constant? Or am I mistaken? I have to hardwire my stereo in my 01 impala and I'm a big DIY guy so all the advice/help that I can get is much appreciated.

Yes, the always ON is the same as 12V constant. The DATA LINK is a communication system for the computers & devices in your car to talk to each other.

for an aftermarket stereo head unit...do not connect anything to the communication wire or you may bring down the entire class 2 circuit. It is only used for oem head units.

no. all the required wires are there at the radio connector. you do not have to run anything to the fuse panel.

have you ever done a hardwire on a 2001 impala? If so, can you tell me which is the 12v switched?

If you can't find the 12V switched wire with your voltmeter, you may be able to use the auxiliary power drop (cigarette lighter). Check first to see if it is 12V-switched power.
