I bought one those off rental vehicles. I found out the rental cars are made with out onstar.

oh ok... that explains it. Your Impala was made as a future rental and thus made 'commercial' and no need to have onstar.
That should be about it as far as rental differences..... i think?

When I ordered my 07 NBS Silverado I inquired about deleting OnStar. We looked all over the order page but it was not an option to delete it. Just stupid to force it on people. They should have an option to delete it for those who don't want it even if it only saves a couple hundred.
I rember when I bought my tahoe I looked at a couple of silverados and a few had onstar delete. To be fair though I am only 80% sure it was 07's I saw that on.
OnStar is standard equipment on the NBS 07's. No option to delete it that we could find. My 05 Silverado did not have it. Believe 06 was when GM started making it standard on cars and trucks. Now it is on all of them pretty much.
