2007 ONSTAR & XM RADIO QUESTIONS.
Ok, I have had my 2007 tahoe for a couple months. I bought it as a GM program vehicle. It had 5k miles.
It has onstar capability, but I have no idea what to do to get it going. Is this something I subscribe to? How do I go about it and how much?
Seconly, i dont know if the 3 free months of xm have been used. I also dont know if it is available even if it hasnt been used since it was purchased used/program by me.
Any help on these 2 items would be great! Thanks.

When my son-in-law bought a used 05 'burb, the dealer gave him both the free year of OnStar and free 3 months of XM.
They are both subscription services.
They are both subscription services.
Without looking it up, I think basic OnStar is about $125/yr with several upgrades available (more $s ofcourse) including hands-free calling. XM is $153.35/yr.
Try pushing the blue OnStar button (I can't find my OnStar stuff) or try this http://www.onstar.com/us_english/jsp...GOO_telematics
For XM, 800.831.5583.
For XM, 800.831.5583.
biglg,
I had the same issue as my 07 purchased last month was a demo also. It toook some wrangling and more than one phone call to Onstar and the dealership but, as of today, I think I got the accounts squared away. I was promised the three (3) month trial to XM as well as one (1) year of Onstar's Safe and Sound Plan which includes thirty (30) minutes of phone service. It took a while to get everything changed over from the dealership and into my name but I believe it's done now. In a rare moment today of me driving the car as opposed to my wife, I went to make a call through OnStar and there still wasn't any minutes available. As I've done each and every time, I waited for an advisor who then "downloaded" my free thirty minutes to my account. I was going to give it a day or two before I checked to see if they were actually there.
I did have to fax a copy of my purchase order to OnStar earlier. This was after contacting the dealership who in turn made a call to OnStar and obtained a case #. That case number was given to me by the dealership and I faxed a copy of the purchase order to:
1-248-577-7320 attn: april
You can give that number a shot but I would start with the dealership and let them make a call on your behalf and set up the case number. I've set up both OnStar and XM accounts online (the XM is great b/c you can actual listen to XM online with an active account i.e. @ work) and I can tell you the account expiration dates on each one reflect the accurate free trial periods. Each month OnStar e-mails me with a vehicle diagnostic reminding me of service, etc. You can also set up a similar type account at:

Just be persistence and explain to whoever that for your purposes, this is a "new" car purchase and you need those accounts to reflect that. I'm not sure how much time has elapsed since you bought the car but even if it's longer than the three months for XM or the year for OnStar, you might be able to "sweet" talk someone on the other end of the line.
Good Luck! Hope this helps!!

hatchet,
Thanks for the information. I actually called them both this weekend. THe onstar was easy, it took one call. However I have not tried to make a call yet. I am also supposed to have 30 free minutes. I should probably try so I can test it out and see if I have them!
It took 5 phone calls and over 5 hours to get the XM set up for the 3 free months. It was ridiculous. I probably burnt 1/2 tank of gas letting the thing idol so long. Finally on the 5th call they got it to work. I dont know what they were doing but everyone of them said the same thing and that they would fix it. HOwever, the 5th person finally got it correct.
Thanks again for the info.
