If it is the rings, a few squirts of fresh oil in the combustion chamber should fix it.
Pull all the plugs, squirt some oil into each spark plug hole, reinstall plugs and try to start it. The oil will seal the compression loss at the rings and if thats all it was, it should start right up. It'll smoke like crazy for a while though.
I had this on a Neon once. Did a head gasket in the driveway for a buddy, and because it sat in the driveway for a week, the oil drained from the cylinder walls causing no compression

hey,
thanks for your reply,
he tired that, and the compression came up some and it smoked like crazy for few minutes, but soon dies back down, he hooked up this snap on tool that hooks up to a air hose and then goes to where the plugs go, and on most of them there was a 40% leak. we listened to the air intake, no sound, listened to the muffler nothing, its coming from the cylinders, and he said its the rings that havent seated. i saw this compression rebuild at advance auto. does that really work?
i cant afford to start over.
