Default TPMS 2007 Impala

When starting my car I would always get the "Service Tire Monitoring System" and when viewing the tire pressure screen it would only show dashes for the readings. Today my rear driver's side tire was almost flat. I aired it up and went to the tire shop they removed the tire and could not find any problems, said it may have had a leak around the bead and remounted the tire...Now for some unexplained reason, the TPMS is working with no problems. Anyone know why?

Welcome to the forum...
I'm going to guess your tire was going flat and the pressure monitor could not detect enough pressure so it showed the --
Its working now because the tire is now within a detectable range...

As TPMS is simply a electronic system which is designed to monitor the air pressure inside the tires. So when the air pressure was low then it was showing dashes and when u filled the air it was showing correctly the reading.

When all the tires had the recommended tire pressure I had the message to check the system.. ALL four tires showed "--" for the pressure readings. When the driver side rear tire was removed and remounted the pressure readings appeared for ALL tires and the check system warning went off and the tire symbol went out. Can't understand what the problem was!

rmcvay,

You have received some great reasons from the members. If you would like to look into this further, you can have your GM dealership do so. They can make sure your sensors are functioning properly.

Sometimes the vehicle needs to be driven for a few miles in order for the light to go off.
