Either a sensor or a bad guage cluster would be my guess.

What year & model are we talking about?

Its a 98 ,im thinking either a senor (but no code yet) or just the gauge. It just started doing it when i was driveing down the highway.

I don't think it would throw a code for either of the 2 possibilities, I may be wrong about that. My suggestion would be to get a junkyard gauge and try that 1st. It's easier that checking the float sensor in the tank.

I am 99% sure it wont either. I have had cluster problems and it never threw a code.

I have the same thing happening in my 98 Silverado, had the fuel pump and sending unit replaced a while back when it went bad, (The pump), never fixed it. Even switched the cluster, that didn't fix it.
Did you happen to find a solution yet
