1998 2.4 coolant leak
My daughter has a 1998 Malibu with the 2.4 engine. The car has 180,000 miles. She has only had the car a few months and not much is known of the cars history.
I replaced the coolant manifold on the drivers side that comes out of the head, the one with several hoses and a sensor in it. The old manifold (plastic) was decayed on the end inside the engine to the point that the rubber O-ring was laying inside the engine. Now, a month later, coolant is showing up in the same area, just under the part I replaced. I don't think the part I replaced is leaking but I am not sure.
My question: Is it a common problem for the intake manifold gasket to leak in this area? Or would it be the head gasket? Either one looks like a big job, any tips or hints?
Thanks,
Terry
