2003 malibu remote starts
If you don't already have remote start, you CANNOT add it by simply changing the remotes. You must have this done by the dealer.
You can get a key anywhere that sells the proper shape. There is no transponder chip in the key, the anti-theft device is built into the key cylinder. Any steel key will work

I did a little search and found there is a chip in the key and could cause problem:

QUESTION: I took my key to the Car Dealer, parts dept and they examined my key and looked it up and this model car does not have a computer chip in the key. He said the Malibu's has problems with the cylinder? I haven't gotten it repaired as yet "

So as long as you have a key that fits the cylinder, and is cut the same as you other keys, they car will start
