2016 malibu service stabilitrak
Hello guys,
Second post here but I have had the service stabilitrak message pop up for me in a parking lot. NO RPM, low power, traction control was stuck on and brakes pulsating. Car is around 17,700 miles. Basic warranty is expired, but still have drivetrain for another year or until the 60k mile mark. I havent seen much about this before, but is it worth taking into a dealer? Based off the codes, would anything be covered under a drive train warranty?
This only happened today in a parking lot, but then was fine after letting it sit and then turning back on to drive home. I havent checked since...
Codes that pop up are the following:
P0700
U0073
U0101
U0100

the codes that set for abs, traction control and stabilitrac are chassis codes and must be read with a scan tool that can access the ebcm. they will start with a C character.
cheap code readers only access power train codes
powertrain codes can disable the stability system. the code you have is a general transmission fault code.
the u codes are communication codes...modules are reporting lost communication. to diagnose them you need to know what module is setting the code and what module is being reported off-line.

Seems to be a couple different modules.. one is for transmission control system malfunction, control module communitcation bus A off, lost communication with transmission module, and also engine module. Im going to wait until my older brother can see if itll replicate the issue he works with alot of newer cars before taking it into the stealership.
It's worth asking about. I think it's reasonable to expect GM to at least cover the diagnostic since it is transmission related.
If it does end up being covered under drive train warranty (and you need to read the fine print on that), then you'll be in their system from the get go.
